About This Safari

What to Expect?
The Southern plains area of the Serengeti is easy to access and offers a great place to see the herds from about December to March and the calving season in February is particularly rewarding, but wildlife is generally much more scarce during the dry season.

The Central Serengeti and Seronera area is the most visited as wildlife viewing is good here year-round and it has the most lodging options, but it is also the most crowded section of the park.

The Western Serengeti area or Western Corridor offers decent wildlife viewing all year round with the migration reaching the Grumeti River around May or June and the river is also a great place to view crocodiles and hippos.

The Northern Serengeti area (Kogatende, Lobo, Loliondo) is the least visited and most remote section of the Serengeti but also offers some of the top luxury camps and lodges in the country. Possibility to see Mara River crossings here around July and August and several camps in the north offer walking safaris and off-road experiences.

Our Itinerary

Day 01 Zanzibar – Serengeti
Morning flight from Zanzibar (via Arusha) to the Serengeti National Park with arrival early afternoon. Pick up from the Seronera Airstrip by your guide. On the way to the camp you go on your first game drive around Serengeti. Reach at your luxury tented camp just before the sun sets over the vast Serengeti Plains. Overnight at Mapito Tented Camp at Ikoma, North Central Serengeti. Lunchbox and Dinner included.

Day 02 Serengeti
Early morning game drive to see also nocturnal predators returning from hunting and animals waking up in early morning light followed by a day of game drives at the Great Serengeti, likely the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world. Depending on the time of year and the migration of the herds you can expect to see wildebeest, lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, baboons, hippos, rhinos, antelopes and many birds and other species. In the afternoon you can go on a Nature Walk around your camp (included in the package price). Also a night game drive can be arranged for you (at extra cost, 50 – 60 USD pP). 2nd overnight at Mapito Tented Camp at Ikoma, North Central Serengeti. All meals included.

After a Bush breakfast we take you to the nearest airstrip in the Serengeti, for your flight back to Zanzibar (approx 10:00 – 14:20 h). Breakfast and lunchbox included.

*** routing subject to changes if necessary *** All accommodations subject to availability

Kindly NOTE

The best wildlife viewing months in Tanzania are during the Dry season from late June to October. The best chance of seeing the wildebeest migration in the Serengeti is during June and July and the time to see the wildebeest calving is late January to February. The southern and western circuit parks are best visited during the Dry season (June to October), unlike the more popular northern circuit parks that can be visited year-round. Tarangire is the only exception since its wildlife viewing is considerably better in the Dry season as well.

While all seasons can be a great time to visit, it is perhaps more important to figure out what parts you’ll want to explore during your visit which will largely depend on your sightseeing priorities and the timing and length of your visit.

  • JUN-OCT Best Time to Visit
